Alderman Tony Salvaggio announces candidacy for Germantown Mayor
Germantown, Tennessee. Alderman Tony Salvaggio announced his campaign for Germantown Mayor this evening before a large group of family and friends at his home. In earlier years, Salvaggio served as a founding member of the Youth Commission, Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Planning liaison to Economic Development and the Fire Appeals Board. Currently he is Alderman Liaison to the Stormwater, Transportation, Natural Resources, Technology and Planning Commission.
“I am a lifelong Germantown resident. Germantown is where I went to school, advanced our family businesses, married my wife Tami, and raised our four children,” remarked Salvaggio. “As a current Alderman, I understand Germantown’s growth opportunities and what our citizens expect. I ran for Alderman—and now for Mayor—because this city has given my family safety, education, and opportunity. This moment isn’t about a title or compensation—it’s about building a movement. A movement rooted in approachable, compassionate leadership with clear priorities and disciplined action. I want to share my time and talents to create pathways for success,” he added.
As Mayor, Salvaggio will focus on public safety, responsible development, education and infrastructure. “Our community is the best place in Shelby County to raise a family and build a business,” Salvaggio emphasized. “I promise to keep Germantown a place where families flourish by emphasizing public safety, excellence in education, responsible development, and excellent communication with residents.”
Salvaggio and his wife, Tami, have been married 27 years. They raised and educated their four children in Germantown. Salvaggio attended Riverdale Elementary, as did his four children. He graduated from Germantown High School in 1993. Salvaggios construction companies, Memphis Door & Hardware and Salvaggio Group, are in Germantown. In addition to his service in Germantown, he served five years as a Board Chairman for Shelby County Foster Care Review and is a charter member of the Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus. The Salvaggios are lifelong members of Church of the Holy Spirit.
